I heard today that one can make a quick candle just by lighting a crayon on fire. I ran a quick test with an unused Crayola brand crayon (Orchid color). I tried lighting it as is, like I was told, with no luck. However, once I cut the tip off and burned it with the crayon and the paper flush, it burned like a champ! I got a steady 8 to 9 minutes of bright burn off of it, followed by another minute of flickering. I blew it out after it was not much use.
I'll try next weekend to take pictures and do an exact time with a couple of examples and maybe different brands of crayons. Truthfully, 8 minutes isn't great as a candle; but I can think of many times when a quick candle might do me well while I gather a few items (especially something that can double as a writing utensil).
Has anyone tried this before? How were the results? Any safety concerns?

Re: Crayon Candle
I think that was a very nice observation. That could be an alternative for the candle lighting.
