Hello, and pushing vs. pulling air.

Post by Trumpetman1 » Wed Nov 19, 2014 9:11 pm

After spending several days in a friends 5th wheel in Salt Lake City, last week, (getting pretty cold there) I thought it would be interesting to see what info was available on building a solar "furnace" for her RV. Of everything I've seen I like the design I see posted here. Oh, BTW, I live in Colorado but grew up in Ulysses, KS. I saw several Jayhawkers posting here. MY one concern about the design has to do with the fan. Wouldn't it be better to "push" cool air in rather than "pull" hot air out? If this device generates a consistent 100+ degrees, wouldn't the heat tend to possibly lend to early fan failure, operating in the higher temperature consistently? Just a thought.

Welcome to the forum! Happy you found something useful here. I replied to your comments in your other thread although I did merge the thread into the Air Heater thread. Thanks for stopping in and I'm looking forward to your posts on this project.
